Message from the Superintendent
It is incredible that we have just a few weeks left of the 2018-2019 school year! Where has the time gone? As we near the last day of school, we still have some work to do. Our students have some testing days to get through, academic competitions to complete, and assignments to finish. I have no doubt that we will finish the year with as much #CCPSSuccess as we started!
Our 6th Annual STEAM Competition held on April 13 at Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) was so full of energy! It was great to see our elementary students building objects to help them in everyday life, our middle school students racing solar cars and building robot vehicles, and our high school students showcasing their student-built robots. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to our host, FSW, and our generous sponsor, Suncoast Credit Union.
As we look forward to our last month of school, our high schools will be holding Academic Signing Days and memorable Grad Walks as they near the culminating Class of 2019 Graduation Day! Our elementary 'Mathletes' will be competing in their Elementary Math Challenge, our Middle School Debate Tournament will come to a close, and some of our high school seniors will be participating in our annual Laureate Symposium. These are only some of the many end-of-year events on tap for these last few weeks.
Our #CCPSFamily has had a phenomenal year! Let us keep the momentum going and finish strong.

Putting science in the hands of the students.
Each year, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida focuses on environmental education for the students of Collier County. Thousands of students have the opportunity to visit the Conservancy through field trips and learn about environmental science. Additionally, experts from the Conservancy visit classrooms regularly through their outreach programs. Whether it is a visit to the Conservancy or a classroom presentation, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida provides hands-on experiences while covering grade-level expectations for learning.
In addition, the Conservancy supports Collier County Public Schools' annual iFILM Student Film Festival along with other environmental groups. This year's iFILM event was held at the end of April at Barron Collier High School and featured outstanding student work. Click here to see the amazing student-produced films.

Charlie Capaci
Sea Gate Elementary School (SGE)
Charlie Capaci is a retired program analyst who has volunteered at Sea Gate Elementary for the last two years. He moved to Naples in 2017, after making the decision to leave his hometown of Norristown, Pennsylvania, after 22 years. It was a tough decision, leaving those harsh winters behind, but Charlie wasted no time getting involved. He contributes his time and energy at SGE several days a week and volunteers in multiple classrooms. Charlie works with students in a variety of learning activities including specialized centers, individual instruction, and class projects, and regularly attends field trips. Charlie is highly regarded by the entire SGE staff and exponentially by the students. He has a wonderful sense of humor and engages fully with all of the children he works with. His kind and friendly demeanor is contagious and it is obvious that he has a genuine interest in helping students learn and do their best. His time and commitment to the students have been instrumental in their academic success. They absolutely love it when Charlie visits the school to volunteer!
