November 2019 - Volume 9, Issue 4
Message from the Superintendent
November is the month of gratitude, and at CCPS, we are grateful for so much! Gratitude is not only a feeling of appreciation or satisfaction, but a celebration of the present. I am sincerely grateful to our #CCPSFamily - our students, staff, parents, volunteers, and community partners - for the #CCPSSuccess happening in our District each and every day.
Champions For Learning ended the month of October by highlighting the great work of our educators as they announced the 2019-2020 Teachers of Distinction. We are #CCPSProud of the honorees and ALL of our educators. Thank you to Champions For Learning for continuing their 30-year traditions of recognizing what our teachers do every day. I have my sneakers ready for the 5th Annual CCPS 5K Walk-Run! Do you? We are looking forward to seeing all of our runners and walkers on Saturday morning, November 16, at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Administrative Center. Entry fees increase on race day, so make sure to register today! Share your training on social media using #CCPS5K and tag @collierschools and @suncoastcu.
The Greater Naples Chamber and Leadership Collier Foundation are collaborating with CCPS to offer a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs. The application window for the 2020 Naples Children’s Business Fair will close on November 22. Student entrepreneurs interested in selling their original products and services to the public should apply. The event will be held on January 11, 2020, at Gulf Coast High School. Wishing everyone in our #CCPSFamily a wonderful Fall Break full of gratitude, memories, and laughter!

In Golden Gate there is a treasured place committed to supporting children and families. Grace Place For Children & Families builds leadership, inspires change, and educates for the future. Golden Gate is roughly four square miles and has a population of almost 30,000. The community has a high percentage of economically needy students and families and Grace Place is addressing that need. The organization has a vision that all families in Golden Gate will have access to education to break the cycle of poverty. Grace Place is committed to early childhood education and family literacy through Bright Beginnings, afterschool support for K-12 students through Academy of Leaders, and developing young leaders who are college bound through the AP Leadership program. In addition, Grace Place offers adult learning and a food pantry to help their families thrive. Grace Place is being recognized by the Barbara Bush Family Literacy Foundation as a national model and will be receiving the Pearl Literacy Award on November 13 at the National Literacy Summit at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. In addition, CCPS would like to congratulate Grace Place For Children & Families on their recent expansion and celebration of their ribbon cutting coming up on November 12.
