September 2019 - Volume 9, Issue 2
Message from the Superintendent
It has been a great start to the 2019-2020 school year! I had the pleasure of celebrating the first day bright and early at Naples High School alongside the school's entire student body during their opening pep rally. School Board Member Erick Carter and Sheriff Kevin Rambosk also joined me during the festivities to kick off this phenomenal school year. Since the first day, I have visited 43 schools and programs and am #CCPSProud of the spectacular teaching and learning happening in our classrooms.
We certainly hope that our #CCPSFamily stays safe as Hurricane Dorian impacts Florida. Please make sure your contact information is up-to-date by logging into the CCPS Portal so you are sure to receive weather-related updates from us should the need arise. It is always best to plan ahead, be prepared, and stay connected.
As we get into the full swing of the school year, let's continue our #CCPSSuccess and make this year the best yet!
~ Dr. Kamela Patton

NAMI Collier County, Florida has a mission to improve the quality of life for families affected by serious and persistent mental illness through education, support, and advocacy. NAMI works through Health Under Guided Systems (H.U.G.S.), part of the NCEF Beautiful Minds Mental Health Initiative, to provide free community-based behavioral health with a focus on prevention and early intervention for ages 3 months to 18 years.
Early identification and intervention is critical for mental health. NAMI works with Collier County Public Schools and local early learning providers to administer the Ages & Stages Questionnaire Social Emotional screening tool. For any children that require follow-up after the initial screening, NAMI meets with families and provides education, parenting classes, family support, and links to counseling and treatment.
Additionally, NAMI has a center where men and women over the age of 18 with mental illness can participate in activities as well as a peer support program. For mental health support, call (239) 260-7300.
