December 2020 - Volume 10, Issue 5 |
Here we are in the last month of 2020! I am sure we have all had moments when we thought the end of this unique and challenging year would never arrive, but here we are and we got here together. |
I want to take a moment to thank our fall student athletes, coaches, parents, and fans for their patience, understanding, and diligence in abiding by the many safety protocols we had to put in place in order to move forward with fall athletic competitions. A special congratulations to Barron, Lely, Naples, and Palmetto Ridge high schools for making it to football regional playoffs! Please click here for Spectator Guidance for Winter Athletic Events. |
Like many other events this year, our Superintendent's Art Gallery Show has taken a virtual twist. Normally, we recognize our student artists in person as we celebrate their talents. However, due to current circumstances, I invite you to watch this video in order to celebrate their creativity. |
This winter season has a two-week break for students and teachers from December 21, 2020, through January 1, 2021. We wish our #CCPSFamily a joyful, healthy, and restful holiday season.

COMMUNITY PARTNER SPOTLIGHT |
The Boys & Girls Club of Collier County was founded more than 20 years ago by local residents who understood that kids need a safe, positive, and inclusive place to go after school and during the summer. Generations of kids have grown up in the Boys & Girls Club here in Collier County. Its programs are provided at low or no-cost. Every child who attends qualifies for financial aid, with most families paying less than $50 per month. |
Every day after school, the Boys & Girls Club serves thousands of CCPS students. In a typical year, it serve 3,000 students and recently received a grant to add 700 more. The Boys & Girls Club knows that productive after school programs, along with academic support and youth development, is vital to the success of many young people. The Club's Core Programs include:
- Education & Career Development
- Character & Leadership Development
- Sports, Fitness & Recreation
- The Arts
- Health & Life Skills
With two campuses, the Nichols Campus in Naples and the Bolch Campus in Immokalee, the Boys & Girls Club provides young people with a safe place, daily meals, high quality programming, and caring staff and mentors. |
The Boys & Girls Club took a leadership role in helping Collier County battle the challenges of COVID-19. It is committed, now more than ever, to ensure Club youth, their families, and the community have the resources and support they need to navigate these uncertain times. Since the pandemic began, the Boys & Girls Club reopened its doors early so that parents, particularly front line workers and first responders, could get back to work. Additionally, it provided programs to make sure no family goes hungry, distributing over 70,000 meals; and for students who were home, it provided virtual programming. |
