June 2020 - Volume 9, Issue 11
Message from the Superintendent
What a whirlwind the last few months have been! We made it, though, to the end of the 2019-2020 school year. I am #CCPSProud of the perserverance, grit, and resilience shown by not only our students, but our teachers, administrators, and District staff. I would be remiss not to include parents in that list as well. Parents, you have kept your children focused and motivated during CCPS eLearns. We know it has been challenging with new routines, but everyone showed their continued commitment to #CCPSSuccess!
While graduation will look different this year, we are looking forward to our Class of 2020 Video/Virtual Commencements on June 3rd. Make sure to visit collierschools.com/graduation2020 for each high school's scheduled time and for access to the streams.
With summer upon us, the District will be offering "Gear Up for Next School Year" online summer learning activities from June 15 - July 16. These engaging instructional activities will be accessed through the Canvas (the same platform students have been using throughout CCPS eLearns). Participation is optional and students will work independently at their own pace on these non-graded activities. Information can be found at collierschools.com/gearup.
As we proceed through the summer months, we will keep you updated regarding details on re-opening schools for the 2020-2021 school year. The health and safety of our students, staff, and campus visitors continues to be a top priority. Please know that we are considering all options and will continue to base decisions on guidance from agencies such a  the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Florida Department of Health in Collier County (FLDOH-Collier), and the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE).
Have a great summer!
~ Dr. Kamela Patton

On April 21, 2020, the School Board of Collier County voted to submit a tax-neutral referendum to the Collier County Board of Commissioners for placement on the upcoming August 18, 2020, ballot. This referendum is cost-neutral, which means it will result in no tax increase. It will help maintain and improve our status as an academically high-performing district.
