We are already in the last month of the year and wrapping up the first semester of the school year. How quickly time has passed!

I want to take a moment to welcome our new School Board Members, Mrs. Jen Mitchell and Dr. Jory Westberry. They, along with Mr. Roy Terry, were sworn in on November 20 during the Board's annual Organizational Meeting. Congratulations as well to Mr. Terry and Mrs. Lucarelli for being selected Board Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, once again. We look forward to working collaboratively with all of the School Board Members.

Congratulations to Sea Gate Elementary School and Lorenzo Walker Technical High School as they received their National Blue Ribbon award during a ceremony in Washington, D.C., in November. We are #CCPSProud of their accomplishment! We also want to extend kudos to Naples High School students Liliana Capiola and Johnny Mixon-Sayah and Gulf Coast High School student Victoria Carroll on marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as part of the Macy's Great American Marching Band. What a great honor!

Thanks to an uneventful hurricane season in our area, December 7 will be a day off for the District as we will not need to use it as a hurricane make-up day. Enjoy the long three-day weekend!

We wish our #CCPSFamily a happy holiday season and wonderful start to the new year! We hope everyone takes time to relax and enjoy time with family and friends during Winter Break, coming back recharged for a phenomenal 2019!

Can you imagine spending the day in shoes that do not fit or having to share a pair of shoes with a sibling? In Collier County, many children face challenges such as this. Over 60% of the students in Collier County receive free or reduced lunch due to economic challenges. Luckily, for Collier County students there is an answer. Since 2005, tens of thousands of Collier County students who need new shoes that fit them receive them from Laces of Love each year. Generously, Laces of Love works with Collier County schools to select students who need shoes. They measure the student’s feet and make sure they provide a proper fit, and more than that, they work hard to make sure they are shoes the students will love. A huge thank you to the Laces of Love organization, all the donors to Laces of Love, and to all the groups that hold shoe drives, from all the children you have helped over the last 13 years.
