A Note from Dr. Leslie C. Ricciardelli

The 2023-2024 school year is here! It has been an exciting first few days of school as we welcomed our students back to campuses throughout the district. I have been visiting schools since the first day and am inspired by the engagement and collaboration occuring in classrooms.

Florida's Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz recently visited two Collier County schools. Immokalee High and Pinecrest Elementary welcomed Commissioner Diaz as he visited with teachers and students while handing out school supplies. We thank him for visiting our classrooms to see what makes CCPS special. Click here to watch a video highlighting the Commissioner's visit.

As we experience warmer temperatures and extremely high heat indices, we want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain a top priority. We will continue to monitor weather forecasts and rely on information from the National Weather Service to make decisions regarding outdoor activities. Stay connected with @collierschools on Facebook and Twitter, as well as on our district website, for the most up-to-date information on changes to activities related to weather. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather, wearing lightweight and breathable clothing, and applying sunscreen before arriving. Additionally, we encourage you to provide your child with a labeled water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.

I encourage you to view a video conversation our Chief Communication Officer, Chad Oliver, recently had with School Board Chair Kelly Lichter. In this eight-minute video, you will learn about the district budget, Board priorities, and what Mrs. Lichter's family did for fun this summer. Click here to watch.

Thank you for being a part of our CCPS family!

A Note from the School Board

As we start this new year, we feel excitement in the air within our community. Finally, we are opening our new high school, Aubrey Rogers High School, after much planning. Also, we are celebrating Collier County Public Schools’ 100-year anniversary.

What has made CCPS so successful over the last 100 years? -- our students, our staff, our parents, and our community support! Their success equals our success, made possible by the hard work of our teachers and administrators who have shown up early to ready their classrooms. Then, there are our support staff and those ready to support our students every day, including bus drivers, nutritional staff, and maintenance staff; they make sure our schools are in working order. I would also be remiss if I didn’t include our Youth Relations Bureau Deputies (YRBDs), who keep our students and staff safe and befriend students. Of course, our CCPS parents deserve recognition as well. Thank you for supporting your students. I encourage you to be involved with your students at every level possible. Your involvement in your child’s education is the greatest way to ensure success.

Please remember that we, your school board members, are happy to have communication from you regarding your student’s education. Together, let us make Collier County Public Schools' 100th anniversary year our most outstanding school year ever!

Happy 2023-2024 school year!

~ Erick Carter, Board Member (District 4)

RODENISE LAVENTURE
Class of 2023

At the recent “Vision 2023” kick-off event for CCPS administrators, Naples High School 2023 graduate Rodenise Laventure started the day with a jaw-dropping performance of the National Anthem to an auditorium filled with school- and district-based administrators, board members, and community members. She received the special invitation to perform from Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Leslie Ricciardelli, who had heard Rodenise sing at her commencement ceremony in June and was awestruck: “I couldn’t take my eyes off her, she sang so beautifully. I was blown away!” This talented young lady will attend FGCU in the fall.
