A Note from Dr. Leslie C. Ricciardelli

This month, our School Board recognized our Collier County Sheriff's Office Youth Relations Bureau Deputies who keep our students, staff, and visitors safe on school campuses. Our district's more than 45-year relationship with the Sheriff's Office is a nationwide model for school safety. This partnership continues to grow as we work together, along with several community organizations, to prevent fentanyl overdoses through the recently launched Laced & Lethal campaign. While opiod overdose is not a current issue at CCPS, we want to be proactive and help educate our community. Parents will soon see informational flyers sent home, as well as videos and presentations for students. Click here to learn more about the Laced & Lethal campaign.

Our 2023-2024 College and Career Night will be held on Monday, September 18, at Golden Gate High School from 5:30-7:30pm. Several colleges, universities, technical colleges, and military programs will be in attendance. Click here to learn more and see a list of participating institutions. I encourage our high school students and parents to attend and visit with representatives from post-secondary institutions from around the country. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, learn about available degree programs, and start determining a post-graduation pathway.

We are ready to hit the ground running at our CCPS 5K Walk-Run on Saturday, November 4! As we celebrate our centennial this year, get into your favorite decade's gear to run or walk the route. Join the fun as a group, challenge a friend to participate with you, or fly solo and race to the finish line. We look forward to seeing our CCPS family at this fun, family-friendly event. Proceeds from the event will support district schools and initiatives. Click here to register today!

Our 2023-2024 STEAM Expo is scheduled for January 27, 2024, at Aubrey Rogers High School and the Call for Proposals is now open. This year, we are looking forward to learning about all things under the ocean! If you have an interactive, hands-on STEAM activity or mini-project you would like to present in our STEAM Village, click here to submit a proposal.

Have a great September!

A Note from the School Board

So thankful and excited about the successful start of the ’23-’24 school year! Thank you all for your continued patience as we still iron out some details.

The beginning of the school year is always busy, but we’ve had a few unique additions this year. Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz visited us twice. During his first visit, he was able to witness some of our second graders fully engaged in our new phonics program. He was very impressed. His second visit was during the State Board of Education meeting that was held in our Board Room.

As for your Board, we will be engaging in Master Board training through the Florida School Boards Association soon. Through this we will also be tackling creating new evaluations for both the Superintendent and the board, something I have been eager to get started on. After that, we will be working on a new Strategic Plan. If you have not watched a School Board meeting recently, I strongly encourage you to show up, tune in live, or watch the recording. Many things are decided each meeting that impact our children and community.

Here’s to a great year!

~ Stephanie Lucarelli, Board Member (District 2)

Fast forward to today, Ryan recently took a job with University of Arkansas as the coordinator of creative content for the Razorback men’s basketball program. Not only will he oversee and produce content for the team’s social media platforms, he will use his graphic design talents to enhance the program’s recruiting efforts.

NAPLES HIGH FACILITY MANAGER CELEBRATES 43 YEARS AT THE SCHOOL

Miguel Rios has been the Facility Manager at Naples High School (NHS) since 1980 when he emigrated to the U.S. from Cuba. He has seen 43 years worth of Golden Eagles walking through campus! Miguel is often seen as the "backbone" of NHS, taking great pride in keeping the campus in excellent shape, including painting each of the school's four mascot statues every summer. Miguel, thank you for being a part of our #CCPSFamily!
