I want to take a moment to congratulate Mr. Erick Carter and Mrs. Stephanie Lucarelli for being re-elected as School Board Members for Collier County Public Schools. They will be sworn in for their renewed term at the School Board's annual Organizational Meeting on November 19, 2024. Thank you to Mr. Carter and Mrs. Lucarelli, and the entire Board, for their dedication to our district. |
The continuation of Collier County Public Schools' Tax-Neutral Referendum will be on the November 5 General Election ballot. The referendum asks voters to allow the School Board to shift district funding, increasing the district's operating budget (salaries, utilities, instructional materials) while decreasing capital funding (restricted to buildings and infrastructure) in the same amount. The CCPS referendum will be the last item on the November ballot and is titled, "Continue Tax-Neutral Flexible Funding for Collier County Public Schools." Click here to watch an informational video about the Tax-Neutral Referendum. You can also visit www.collierschools.com/referendum to learn more. |

Looking forward to 2025, there are two events that I encourage you to mark on your calendars. First, our 14th annual STEAM Expo is set for January 25, 2025, at Aubrey Rogers High School. This year's theme "Build a Better Tomorrow" will focus on the possibilities of the future. Registration will open in December, but if you are interested in submitting a proposal to provide a hands-on activity in STEAM Village, click here to learn more. The second event is our annual CCPS 5K Walk-Run scheduled for April 5, 2025. While this event is usually held in the fall, we had to move this year's date due to scheduling conflicts. You'll hear more about it early next year. |

Check out the impressive September lineup of CCPS District All-Stars. This is the fifth school year for this award-winning recognition of the hard work and skill displayed by our students and teams in athletic competitions, classrooms, and the community. |

As your Collier County School Board Member for District 5, I am beginning my second full year as a School Board Member. I am looking forward to working with my fellow Board Members and staff to keep our Collier County School District an A District. |
As a follow up to my last message in News and Notes in April of this year, I have been working with private companies and setting up meetings so they can partner with iTech in Immokalee. Our goal is to create internship programs that will benefit our students’ futures in the next few months! |
It is hard to believe that school started over a month ago as this year seems to be flying by so quickly. This is a wake-up call to all stakeholders to enjoy events at your student’s school. This may be in the form of a music concert, sports event or the many other activities that your children or grandchildren have the opportunity to participate in during the year. Attending events for your children and grandchildren makes them feel good about themselves and helps them do better in school. |
I would like to wish our students and staff a SAFE and wonderful school year. |

NOTE: THIS IS THE ACTUAL MESSAGE. The previously published message was a rough draft because I accidently sent my notes instead of the finished product. Unfortunately, the content of this note was ignored, and the grammar was ridiculed by some who missed the heartfelt content. Are you more concerned by the grammar than the content? |
Board member notes are submitted directly by a school board member without edits from district staff. |

ZOOCON: MEET THE ALLIGATORS |
Each year, elementary students throughout the district participate in CCPS ZooCon events in partnership with The Naples Zoo. These events are broadcast live from the Zoo, into the classroom where students watch and have the opportunity to ask questions. Anyone can watch along with our students on The Education Channel (channel 99) or online at www.collierschools.com. We welcome you to virtually join our Kindergarten students in watching "Meet the Alligators" on September 20, 2024, at 10:00am. |
