A Note from Dr. Leslie C. Ricciardelli

It's incredible to think that summer break is almost over with school starting in just a few weeks! Our school and district administrators have been busy preparing to welcome students and staff back to our campuses.

You may have heard earlier this month that Collier County Public Schools once again earned an "A" rating from the Florida Department of Education! CCPS is the only district in Southwest Florida to earn an “A” rating and we moved up to sixth in the State from seventh last year (out of 67 school districts). Of our traditional public schools, 50 of 51 CCPS schools earned an “A” or “B” rating, and none earned a grade of D or F. Click here to read the full announcement, including school grades.

The Florida Department of Education also released spring assessment results. I would like to commend and recognize our CCPS students for their continued strong performance on state assessments, a reflection of their hard work and dedication. This growth and sustained success are the result of the combined efforts of our dedicated educators and support staff, school and district leaders, and the partnerships we share with families and community organizations. Click here to read the full assessment brief.

I hope you continue to enjoy the last few weeks of summer and I look forward to welcoming our CCPS family back on August 11!

A Note from the School Board

As your Collier County School Board Member District 5, I would like to wish you and your family a happy, healthy, and safe summer.

Since my last News and Notes, I was honored to speak at several graduation ceremonies and give graduating seniors their diplomas. This year, I participated at Palmetto Ridge High School, Everglades City High School, Immokalee High School, and iTech. I also attended the Immokalee Foundation Graduation.

On June 3rd, we attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony in Ave Maria for the Ave Maria Elementary School. The expected date of the opening of this school will be August of 2026.

It has been a year since we did the Groundbreaking Ceremony for Bear Creek Elementary, and we are looking forward to the ribbon cutting on August 1st for the grand opening. Our children are our most precious asset and we want to do the best for them.

In less than thirty days, your student(s) will be starting the 2025/2026 school year. You can prepare your student for an exciting adventure of a continuous learning experience by integrating healthy outdoor activities with lifelong learning projects with trips to your local library.

I am so excited to be a part of this journey helping your student, whether it’s their first day of school or entering their senior year of High School.

This summer, middle and high school students were able to take advantage of a camp experience like no other at Lorenzo Walker Technical College (LWTC)! Thanks to the generous support of the Naples Children & Education Foundation, the summer camp gave students a unique chance to explore exciting career pathways — from hands-on technical skills to real-world career insights. They discovered new passions, gained valuable experience, and got inspired to dream big.
